Center for Hmong Arts and Talent

CHAT resides at the heart of the Hmong community in Saint Paul, and exists to nurture, explore and illuminate the Hmong American experience through artistic expressions.

CHAT envisions a vibrant and socially just community where Hmong American artists are inspired to share their perspectives, valued for their creative contributions, and empowered to challenge life’s boundaries.

CHAT gives voice to the Hmong community through 6 programs and 2 annual events for youth and adults. Programs include: Art Saves Us, the Youth Leadership Group, ICE Open Mic LIVE!, Dab Neeg<>Dawning Theatre, CHAT radio, Artist Services, an annual Fresh Traditions Fashion show and an annual Hmong Arts and Music festival celebrating Hmong artistry and community.

ArtsLab Strategic Vision

Our work will develop robust learning networks and resources that support individual artists, artist-led organizations, state arts agencies, regional arts councils, and the capacity-building field locally and nationally. We will:

Increase the pool of mature and engaged leadership ready to meet the demands of the 21st century arts and culture sector;

Build the resilience and strengthen the presence and leadership of visionary arts organizations within their community and region;

Demonstrate the power of the arts to enhance community vitality and engagement.
